— 1 Corintios 9:17, —“Por lo cual, si lo hago de buena voluntad, recompensa tendré; pero si de mala voluntad, la comisión me ha sido encomendada”. Pablo recibió mandamiento del Señor de predicar el evangelio. Por eso, él no pudo gloriarse por hacerlo, porque aunque predicó voluntariamente, no escogió a sí mismo para el apostolado sino que fue escogido por el Señor (“la comisión me ha sido encomendada”) y soy un mero mayordomo, un esclavo haciendo la voluntad de otro.
— 1 Corintios 9:18, “¿Cuál, pues, es mi galardón? Que predicando el evangelio, presente gratuitamente el evangelio de Cristo, para no abusar de mi derecho en el evangelio”. Encontró su recompensa en la satisfacción de predicar el evangelio sin recibir salario de ellos. En esto vemos el amor de Pablo por la iglesia de Corinto.
III. 1 CORINTIOS 9:19-23, LIBRE DE TODOS – SIERVO DE TODOS.
— “Me he hecho a los judíos como judío, para ganar a los judíos”. Se refiere a costumbres y prácticas de los judíos que no estaban en conflicto con el evangelio; es decir, no tenían nada que ver con la justificación. Al entrar en cada ciudad fue a la sinagoga. Dijo públicamente “Soy fariseo” (Hechos 23:6). Hechos 18:18, “…habiéndose rapado la cabeza en Cencrea, porque tenia hecho voto”. Hechos 21:26, 6 Entonces Pablo tomó consigo a aquellos hombres, y al día siguiente, habiéndose purificado con ellos …”
— No permitió que Tito, siendo griego, fuera circuncidado (Gálatas 2:3), pero a Timoteo sí lo circuncidó porque su madre era judía. Hechos 16:3, “3 Quiso Pablo que éste (Timoteo) fuese con él; y tomándole, le circuncidó por causa de los judíos que había en aquellos lugares; porque todos sabían que su padre era griego”.
— “a los que están sin ley, como si yo estuviera sin ley”. Citó la literatura de ellos y presentó un argumento usando la inscripción en sus altares (Hechos 17:23, 28). Los hermanos judaizantes querían obligar a los conversos gentiles a ser circuncidados y guardar la ley pero Pablo y Bernabé tuvieron una discusión y contienda no pequeña con ellos (Hechos 15:1, 2).
— “no estando yo sin ley, sino bajo la ley de Cristo”. Cristo tiene toda autoridad en el cielo y en la tierra (Mateo 28:18); por lo tanto, tiene ley. Santiago 1:25; 2:10. Tiene mandamientos que todos deben obedecer. No hay conflicto alguno entre la ley de Cristo y la gracia de Dios. La gracia “enseña” la ley de Cristo (Tito 2:11, 12).
— Si no estamos bajo ley, no podemos pecar. 1 Juan 3:4, “el pecado es infracción de la ley”.
— “Me he hecho débil a los débiles” – Se refiere a su práctica de no comer lo sacrificado a los ídolos si hubo peligro de hacer caer a los hermanos débiles (hermanos cuya conciencia les condenaba si lo comieron)
Conclusión.
— 1 Corintios 8, 10. Se negó a sí mismo para el beneficio de otros y la obra de Cristo.
— En todo esto se negó a sí mismo “para que de todos modos salve a algunos”. Pablo no se negó a sí mismo como los que viven aislados en algún monasterio. Más bien lo hizo asociando con la gente de toda clase para ganarles para Cristo. Se negó sí mismo para la salvación de otros.
— “Y esto hago por causa del evangelio para hacerme copartícipe de él”. Juan 4:36, “Y el que siega recibe salario, y recoge fruto para vida eterna, para que el que siembra goce juntamente con el que siega”.
