| 2 Reyes 20:1–11
Introducción: Todos los seres humanos tenemos que enfrentar la muerte algún día. Leamos en Hebreos así: “Y de la manera que está establecido para los hombres que mueran una sola vez, y después de esto el juicio,” Hebreos 9:27. ¿Cuándo lo estableció nuestro Dios? Cuando el hombre peco en Genesis 3. ¿Cómo hacerlo? Con la actitud del Apóstol Pablo: “Porque yo ya estoy para ser sacrificado, y el tiempo de mi partida está cercano. 7He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe. 8Por lo demás, me está guardada la corona de justicia, la cual me dará el Señor, juez justo, en aquel día; y no sólo a mí, sino también a todos los que aman su venida.” 2 Timoteo 4:6-8. Estas palabras no son de alguien que esta frustrado, son palabras de alguien que se sentía satisfecho con todo lo que había hecho para la honra y gloria del Señor. I. Una noticia impactante: “1En aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. Y vino a él el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: Jehová dice así: Ordena tu casa, porque morirás, y no vivirás.” 2 Reyes 20:1
1. Se le comunicó al rey que iba a morir. Nuestro Dios solo nos ha asegurado que vamos a morir, pero, no nos dice cuándo. Una grave enfermedad que lo amenazaba con la muerte y las palabras proféticas de Isaías. Se desconoce la naturaleza exacta de la enfermedad de Ezequías, pero es claro que se trataba de una de la piel. 2. Se le mandó “ordenar su casa”. Es lo que llamamos hacer un testamento. Ósea expresar su voluntad de manera escrita. Al escuchar la triste noticia, volvió su cara hacia la pared para estar a solas con su problema y con su Dios. ¿Cuál problema lo agobiaba más: la muerte a una edad joven o la muerte sin un hijo propio para continuar su nombre?.
II. Ezequías buscó al autor de la vida: “Entonces él volvió su rostro a la pared, y oró a Jehová y dijo: 3Te ruego, oh Jehová, te ruego que hagas memoria de que he andado delante de ti en verdad y con íntegro corazón, y que he hecho las cosas que te agradan. Y lloró Ezequías con gran lloro.” 2 Reyes 20:2-3.
1. Oró a Dios. En este texto encontramos una de las oraciones más poderosas que registra la Biblia. Oro Con el corazón, con sinceridad, en agonía. Como lo expresa este Salmo: “Dios, Dios mío eres tú; De madrugada te buscaré; Mi alma tiene sed de ti, mi carne te anhela, En tierra seca y árida donde no hay aguas,” Salmo 63:1. 2. Solo le pidió que recordara su vida. No pidió nada. Como quiera, en vez de someterse con humildad ante el mensaje de Dios, se entristeció y se amargó ante la noticia; sin embargo, conforme a su costumbre, oró al Señor. No oró como hacía antes pidiendo que Dios vindicara el nombre divino; tampoco fue una oración de arrepentimiento o de remordimiento; más bien le recordó su fidelidad y sinceridad al servicio. Su conciencia estaba enteramente limpia; estaba bien con su Dios. No había nada de duplicidad o engaño en su fe. 3. Lloró como Ana (“ella con amargura de alma oró a Jehová, y lloró abundantemente” 1 Sam. 1:10).
III. La respuesta de Dios: “4Y antes que Isaías saliese hasta la mitad del patio, vino palabra de Jehová a Isaías, diciendo: 5Vuelve, y di a Ezequías, príncipe de mi pueblo: Así dice Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre: Yo he oído tu oración, y he visto tus lágrimas; he aquí que yo te sano; al tercer día subirás a la casa de Jehová. 6Y añadiré a tus días quince años, y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad de mano del rey de Asiria; y ampararé esta ciudad por amor a mí mismo, y por amor a David mi siervo. 7Y dijo Isaías: Tomad masa de higos. Y tomándola, la pusieron sobre la llaga, y sanó.” 2 Reyes 20:4-7.
1. He oído tu oración. Su oración, que conmovió a Dios mismo, cambió su destino. Como lo expresa este Salmo: “Bendito sea Dios, Que no echó de sí mi oración, ni de mí su misericordia.” Salmo 66:20. 2. He visto tus lágrimas. Las palabras proféticas eran que se sanaría, que se restauraría su salud dentro de tres días y que podría adorar a Dios en su templo de nuevo. Como lo expresa este Salmo: “Me he consumido a fuerza de gemir; Todas las noches inundo de llanto mi lecho, Riego mi cama con mis lágrimas.” Salmo 6:6. 3. Dios dejo claro su amor y su cuidado. Dice un Salmo: “Los ojos de Jehová están sobre los justos, Y atentos sus oídos al clamor de ellos.” Salmo 34:15. 4. Dios nos da la vida abundante y no solo largura de días. Dice así este Salmo: “Enséñanos de tal modo a contar nuestros días, Que traigamos al corazón sabiduría” Salmo 90:12. Pablo predicando en Listra dijo: “si bien no se dejó a sí mismo sin testimonio, haciendo bien, dándonos lluvias del cielo y tiempos fructíferos, llenando de sustento y de alegría nuestros corazones.” Hechos 14:17.
IV. EZEQUIAS PIDE UNA GARANTIA: “8Y Ezequías había dicho a Isaías: ¿Qué señal tendré de que Jehová me sanará, y que subiré a la casa de Jehová al tercer día? 9Respondió Isaías: Esta señal tendrás de Jehová, de que hará Jehová esto que ha dicho: ¿Avanzará la sombra diez grados, o retrocederá diez grados? 10Y Ezequías respondió: Fácil cosa es que la sombra decline diez grados; pero no que la sombra vuelva atrás diez grados. 11Entonces el profeta Isaías clamó a Jehová; e hizo volver la sombra por los grados que había descendido en el reloj de Acaz, diez grados atrás.” 2 Reyes 20:8-11. 1. ¿Sera falta de fe de Ezequías al pedir una señal? o ¿Se sentirá confundido por la repuesta rápida de Dios? 2. Como quiera, en este caso Isaías le permitió escoger entre dos señales: ¿que avanzara la sombra diez gradas, o que retrocediera? 3. Ezequías seleccionó la señal más difícil de lograr: que la sombra retrocediera, y eso indicaría el retroceso del tiempo. Si Jehovah tenía el poder de hacer que el tiempo fuera para atrás, cuanto más podría alargar la vida del rey y proteger a Jerusalén. 4. No es necesario postular un eclipse o un retroceso en la rotación de la tierra o un movimiento hacia atrás del sol o la pérdida de un día astronómico o de casi una hora. Una refracción local de los rayos del sol sería suficiente para explicar el fenómeno. De hecho, el texto menciona la sombra y no dice nada del sol.
Conclusión: Nuestras oraciones expresan nuestra fe en Dios. El apóstol Pablo enseño a los hermanos Éfeso así: “orando en todo tiempo con toda oración y súplica en el Espíritu, y velando en ello con toda perseverancia y súplica por todos los santos;” Efesios 6:18.
Si vivimos como Ezequías agradando a Dios y fieles a EL estemos tranquilos y confiados en EL. En Jesús tenemos esperanza: “pero que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte y sacó a luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio,” 2 Timoteo 1:10.
Debemos estar listos a enfrentarnos con nuestro Creador en cualquier momento de la vida.
