INTRODUCCION:
- ¿Se cortó alguna vez el suministro de agua de su casa? Si así fue, es probable que usted se hiciera dos preguntas: « ¿Quién lo cortó?» y « ¿Por qué?».Al estudiar 1 Reyes 17.1–15, estas son las preguntas que nos haremos: « ¿Quién cortó el suministro de agua?» y « ¿Por qué?».
- El porqué es una pregunta con la cual tenemos dificultad: «Señor, estoy haciendo todo lo posible. ¿Por qué me suceden todas estas calamidades?». Al considerar la pregunta del porqué, debemos tener presente Isaías 55.8–9. No tenemos problema alguno con este pasaje siempre y cuando lo aplicamos a los demás. ¡Es más difícil aplicarlo a nosotros mismos!
- ¿POR QUÉ CORTÓ DIOS EL SUMINISTRO DE AGUA EN ISRAEL? (17.1.)
- Repasemos lo que había sucedido en Israel.
- Notemos la advertencia de Deuteronomio 7.1–6, en el sentido de no entrar en matrimonios mixtos con las naciones de alrededor. Esta advertencia no fue acatada. Por el lado de Acab está Jezabel.
- ¿Qué hizo Dios para cumplir sus amenazas? Envió a Elías a Acab: 1 Reyes 17.1. Note la palabra «años»; no llovió durante tres años y medio (Lucas 4.25; Santiago 5.17).
- ¿Por qué cortó Dios el suministro de agua en Israel?
- La advertencia de Dios (Deuteronomio 7) se cumple (Deuteronomio 11.16–17). Elías oró pidiendo que no lloviera (Santiago 5.17). Es evidente que su ruego fue en el sentido de que Dios hiciera lo que había anunciado que haría, en Deuteronomio 11.
- Dios podría responder la pregunta del porqué:
- «Porque el pueblo desobedeció mi voz y merecía el castigo».
- «Porque mi fiel siervo Elías oró fervientemente».
- «Para probar que Yo soy Dios; para mostrar a Mi pueblo el error de sus caminos, de modo que se arrepientan y vuelvan a Mí».
- ¿POR QUÉ CORTÓ DIOS EL SUMINISTRO DE AGUA EN QUERIT? (17.2–7.)
- Después de hacer la advertencia a Acab, Dios dio el segundo paso de Su plan.
- A Elías se le dijo paso a paso qué debía hacer.
- El segundo paso fue inesperado: Vé al arroyo de Querit y espera (vers. 3–4).
- Elías hizo lo que Dios le mandó (vers. 5–6).
- «Querit» significa «corte» o «separación». Durante un año más o menos, Elías estuvo separado de todos los demás mientras se quedaba junto al arroyo.
- Este tiempo que pasó inactivo debió de haber sido difícil para Elías.
- ¡Luego Dios cortó el suministro de agua en Querit!
- Elías estaba donde Dios deseaba que estuviera, ¡pero el suministro de agua fue cortado! (vers. 7).
- ¿Por qué cortó Dios el suministro de agua en Querit?
- Porque Elías había orado (vers. 7; Santiago 5.17). A veces, nuestras oraciones son respondidas de maneras que no esperamos.
- Porque había llegado el momento de que Elías diera el siguiente pasó. Necesitamos aprender a confiar en Dios y en Sus planes para nuestra vida.
III. ¿POR QUÉ CORTÓ DIOS EL SUMINISTRO DE AGUA EN SAREPTA? (17.8–16.)
- Dios dijo a Elías que fuera a Sarepta (vers. 8–9).
- Sarepta era una pequeña ciudad costera que estaba en Fenicia, directamente al norte de Israel. Se encontraba de cien a ciento cincuenta kilómetros al noroeste de donde Elías estaba, al otro lado de la región afectada por sequía. Elías debía seguir pasando desapercibido. Debía quedarse allí con una viuda.
- ¿Cómo respondió Elías? «… se levantó y se fue».
- Cuando Elías llegó a Sarepta, ¡el suministro de agua también había sido cortado allí!
- ¡La viuda con quien debía quedarse estaba muriendo de hambre!
- ¿Por qué cortó Dios el suministro de agua en Sarepta?
- Los problemas de Israel habían llegado del norte; por lo tanto, ellos también debían sufrir las consecuencias.
- Para seguir recalcando a Elías que él dependía totalmente de Dios.
- Para convencer a una pobre viuda que Jehová es el verdadero Dios.
CONCLUSIÓN:
- ¡Qué importante es que nosotros nos demos cuenta de que, nos pase lo que nos pase en la vida, Dios no nos ha abandonado, sino que todavía nos ama y proveerá para nosotros! (Isaías 49.14–16.)
