(1 Reyes 21)
Nos encantan las lecciones sobre el amor y la misericordia de Dios, pero no podríamos decir que predicamos todo el consejo de Dios (Hch 20:27) “porque no he rehuido anunciaros todo el consejo de Dios.” si no predicamos también sobre la justicia y la santidad de Dios, esto es, el aspecto de Dios que no puede contemplar el pecado. Esta serie sobre Elías nos presenta ahora una lección sobre esa naturaleza.
Antes de ir a 1º Reyes 21, establezcamos el principio que estaremos ilustrando:
Pasajes antiguo testamentarios: (Pro 29:1) “El hombre que reprendido endurece la cerviz, De repente será quebrantado, y no habrá para él medicina.” (Véase también Proverbios 6:12, 15).
Igual consideremos estas ilustraciones registradas en las escrituras para nuestro beneficio y crecimiento espiritual: (1) Sodoma y Gomorra (Génesis 19). (2) Los reinos de Israel y de Judá (2º Crónicas 36). (3) Belsasar (Daniel 5). (4) Herodes Agripa (Hechos 12; note vers. 23). (5) Expresiones neotestamentarias (Romanos 1; Hebreos 6; 1 Juan 5)
Hemos visto la maldad de Acab y Jezabel. Veremos ahora uno de los más despreciables actos que se recogen en las Escrituras, y veremos a Dios diciendo: “¡Basta!”.
EL PECADO CONTRA NABOT (1 Reyes 21:1–16)
«Pasadas estas cosas, aconteció…» (vers. 1a): Después que Elías desapareció de vista.
Después que Acab e Israel reanudaron sus actividades normales.
Acab deseaba un campo, y Nabot no le permitió tenerlo.
Versículo 1b: La ciudad capital de Samaria estaba de 60 a 65 kilómetros al sur de Jezreel, pero Acab tenía un castillo en Jezreel.
Versículo 2: Acab deseaba la viña de Nabot, pero cuando los israelitas entraron en Canaán, la tierra fue repartida entre las tribus y las familias, y la tierra debía seguir en manos de esas familias (Num. 27.7-11; 36.1-12; Deut. 19.14; Rut 4.1-11; Jer. 32.6-9).
Versículo 3: Nabot era uno de los siete mil que no habían doblado su rodilla ante Baal.
Versículo 4: Acab lloriqueó porque no pudo poseer la viña.
Versículo 5: Jezabel vino a ver cuál era el problema.
Versículo 6: Acab contó su «triste historia».
Versículo 7: Jezabel se burló de su esposo y luego dijo: «Yo me encargaré del asunto». Para tomar el campo, ellos idearon un ardid plan que torcía las leyes de Dios.
Versículo 9: (1) Se proclamó un ayuno. Ley número uno: Proclamar un ayuno se hacía para evitar la ira de Dios. (2) A Nabot se le dio un lugar de honor «delante del pueblo». Ley número dos: Todo el pueblo debía participar en el ayuno.
Versículo 10: (1) Se sobornó a hombres perversos para que mintieran acerca de Nabot. Ley número 3: Había que poner a dos o tres testigos. (2) Acusaron a Nabot de blasfemia: Ley número 4: La blasfemia se castigaba con la pena de muerte. Ley número 5: Había de ser muerte por lapidación.
Nabot fue muerto, y Jezabel y Acab estaban felices.
En estos versículos se observa todo el plan no acorde al consejo de Dios para tomar algo que no debía..
Nabot fue muerto según el plan tramado y ejecutado por personas perversas. (junto con sus herederos; vea 2º Reyes 9.26).
Versículo 14: Se envió a decir a Jezabel.
Versículo 15: Reacciona de manera fría, a algo que ella había concebido para dar posesión a Acab. Le dan la noticia y ella le comunica al Rey.
Versículo 16: Acab era feliz nuevamente. (1Re 21:16) “Y oyendo Acab que Nabot era muerto, se levantó para descender a la viña de Nabot de Jezreel, para tomar posesión de ella.”
LA PACIENCIA DE DIOS SE ACABA (1 Reyes 21:17–24; 27–29; 22:38; 2º Reyes 9:21–36).
Elías da el mensaje de Dios.
Versículos 17–19: La palabra del Señor vino a Elías otra vez. (1Re 21:17) “Entonces vino palabra de Jehová a Elías tisbita, diciendo:” (1Re 21:18) “Levántate, desciende a encontrarte con Acab rey de Israel, que está en Samaria; he aquí él está en la viña de Nabot, a la cual ha descendido para tomar posesión de ella.” (1Re 21:19) “Y le hablarás diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿No mataste, y también has despojado? Y volverás a hablarle, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: En el mismo lugar donde lamieron los perros la sangre de Nabot, los perros lamerán también tu sangre, tu misma sangre.”
Versículos 20–24: Elías halló a Acab y le dio el mensaje de Dios: (1) Los perros lamerían la sangre de Acab donde ellos lamieron la sangre de Nabot (vea vers. 19). (2) Los perros se comerían a Jezabel en Jezreel (vers. 23). (3) Los perros, en la antigüedad, eran animales vagabundos, que se alimentaban con desperdicios y cadáveres, y por eso la Biblia los considera impuros. Era un grave insulto llamar «perro» a un ser humano, y no había peor manera de condenar a una persona que anunciarle que sería comida por los perros. (Notas al pie de pagina Reina Valera). (4) Otros hombres estaban presentes, incluyendo a Jehú. (2Re 9:25, 26) “Dijo luego Jehú a Bidcar su capitán: Tómalo, y échalo a un extremo de la heredad de Nabot de Jezreel. Acuérdate que cuando tú y yo íbamos juntos con la gente de Acab su padre, Jehová pronunció esta sentencia sobre él, diciendo: Que yo he visto ayer la sangre de Nabot, y la sangre de sus hijos, dijo Jehová; y te daré la paga en esta heredad, dijo Jehová. Tómalo pues, ahora, y échalo en la heredad de Nabot, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.”
Esta escena y el mensaje se imprimieron indeleblemente en la mente de Jehú.
Versículos 27–29: ¡Sorpresa! Acab mismo fue aterrorizado y se humilló, logrando un indulto de varios años.
Lamentablemente, el arrepentimiento de Acab fue efímero. Nada sucedió a Acab, y este volvió a sus antiguas costumbres. Note este versículo en Eclesiastés 8:11 “Por cuanto no se ejecuta luego sentencia sobre la mala obra, el corazón de los hijos de los hombres está en ellos dispuesto para hacer el mal.” Se cumplieron los aterradores decretos de Dios.
Acab (1º Reyes 22). Acab fue a la guerra disfrazado. La flecha que un arquero anónimo lanzó al aire, entró por una juntura de la armadura de Acab.
(1Re 22:38) “Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; y los perros lamieron su sangre (y también las rameras se lavaban allí), conforme a la palabra que Jehová había hablado.” Los decretos de Dios son inexorables.
Jezabel (2º Reyes 9). (1) Veinte años pasaron. Elías fue reemplazado por Eliseo. Joram el hijo de Acab, estaba sobre el trono, y Jezabel era la impía reina madre. Había llegado el momento para la conclusión de la historia de Acab y Jezabel. (2) (Vease 2 Reyes 9:21, 25–26) Y consideremos estos versículos de 2 Reyes 9:30-36. (2Re 9:30) “Vino después Jehú a Jezreel; y cuando Jezabel lo oyó, se pintó los ojos con antimonio, y atavió su cabeza, y se asomó a una ventana.” (2Re 9:31) “Y cuando entraba Jehú por la puerta, ella dijo: ¿Sucedió bien a Zimri, que mató a su señor?” (2Re 9:32) “Alzando él entonces su rostro hacia la ventana, dijo: ¿Quién está conmigo? ¿quién? Y se inclinaron hacia él dos o tres eunucos.”(2Re 9:33) “Y él les dijo: Echadla abajo. Y ellos la echaron; y parte de su sangre salpicó en la pared, y en los caballos; y él la atropelló.” (2Re 9:34) “Entró luego, y después que comió y bebió, dijo: Id ahora a ver a aquella maldita, y sepultadla, pues es hija de rey.” (2Re 9:35) “Pero cuando fueron para sepultarla, no hallaron de ella más que la calavera, y los pies, y las palmas de las manos.” (2Re 9:36) “Y volvieron, y se lo dijeron. Y él dijo: Esta es la palabra de Dios, la cual él habló por medio de su siervo Elías tisbita, diciendo: En la heredad de Jezreel comerán los perros las carnes de Jezabel…” ¡Qué relato más triste!
Dios desea que aprendamos de este relato:
La paciencia de Dios tiene fin; y nadie puede saber cuándo llega.
Los decretos de Dios son inexorables; y nadie puede cambiarlos.
Las declaraciones de Dios incluyen misericordia; y nadie debe rechazarla.
No olvidemos jamás que Dios es Dios de misericordia y Dios de justicia.
