- ¿Qué significa tener misericordia?
- 1. Misericordia es un espíritu perdonador hacia el que nos ha ofendido, o hecho daño. Abarca también un sentimiento de bondad, como un acto bondadoso, hacia quienes están en aflicción.
- a) Hasta así expresado, este es sin duda un gran dicho; y es la afirmación de un pensamiento que recorre todo el Nuevo Testamento, que insiste en que para ser perdonados, tenemos que ser perdonadores; Santiago 2:13; Mateo 18:35. Y que nos recibamos unos a otros, así como Cristo nos recibió a nosotros para la gloria del Padre; 15:7.
- b) La Oración que Cristo enseñara a sus discípulos va seguida de dos versos que explican y subrayan la petición: Mateo 6:12, 14. La enseñanza inconfundible del Nuevo Testamento es que, solo se tendrá misericordia, de los misericordiosos.
- c) Para persuadirnos a ser misericordiosos, la Biblia nos recuerda que todos hemos pecado; 3:23. Que estamos separados de Dios; Isa. 59:1-2, que estamos sin esperanza y sin Dios en el mundo; Efe. 2:2:1, 12. Y aun así, Dios porque es rico en misericordia; Efe. 2:4, envió a su único para que nos redimiera, nos justificara y nos salvara eternamente; Heb. 2:14-17.
- Ejemplos de personas que fueron misericordiosos.
- a) Esta piadosa virtud la expresó José, en su trato con sus hermanos; Gén. 45:1-15; 50:15-20.
- b) David en su respuesta a los maltratos de Saúl; 1 Sam. 24:14-22.
- c) Y Esteban, el primer mártir del cristianismo, murió apedreado; Hechos 7:54-60.
- Pero hay algo más, el misericordioso es él tiene amor hacia aquéllos en la aflicción, por ejemplo…
- El «Buen Samaritano» – Luc. 10:25-37. No quiere decir solo que le dé a uno lástima de otro que lo pasa algo malo. Misericordia, quiere decir la capacidad de ponerse uno totalmente en el lugar de otro, de manera que ve con sus ojos, piensa con su mente y siente con sus sentimientos.
- Una virtud ejemplificada por Cristo; Lucas 7:11-17; Está claro que esto es mucho más que una oleada emocional de lástima; exige un esfuerzo deliberado de la mente y de la voluntad. Denota una simpatía que no se da porque si, sino que viene de una deliberada identificación con la otra persona hasta el punto de ver y sentir como ella. Esto es lo que quiere decir literalmente la palabra simpatía, que se deriva de dos palabras griegas, una quiere decir juntamente con, y la otra experimentar o sufrir. Simpatía quiere decir experimentar las cosas juntamente con otra persona, pasar literalmente lo que está pasando ella. Debemos evitar vivir pensando más en los intereses y sentimientos de las demás, antes que en los nuestros; 1 Jn. 3:17-18; Prov. 21:13.
- El ejemplo supremo de misericordia, es la venida de Dios al mundo en Jesucristo; Filip. 2:1-2, 5-8. Se dice que la reina Victoria de Inglaterra era muy amiga del director Tulloch, de la universidad de Saint Andrews, y su esposa. El príncipe Albert murió, y la reina Victoria se quedó sola. Precisamente por el mismo tiempo murió el director Tulloch, y la señora Tulloch también se quedó sola. Sin previo aviso, la Reina vino a visitar a la señora Tulloch, que estaba descansando en su habitación. Cuando le anunciaron a la Reina, la señora Tulloch se dio toda la prisa que pudo para levantarse y hacer una reverencia. La Reina dio un paso al frente y le dijo: “Querida mía, no te levantes. Hoy no vengo como la Reina a una de sus súbditas, sino como una mujer que ha perdido a su marido, a otra en la misma situación”. Eso es precisamente lo que hizo Cristo Jesús; vino a la humanidad, dejando la forma divina que tenía en el cielo, y vino al mundo en forma de hombre.
- ¿Qué se les promete a los misericordiosos?
- Solo aquellos que muestren esta misericordia recibirán misericordia. Cuando seamos misericordiosos con los demás, seremos los recipientes de la divina misericordia de Dios. “Ellos al recibirán misericordia” V. 7.
- Pero si no mostramos misericordia, se nos advierte por implicaciones, que no recibiremos, ni se nos mostrara misericordia; Mateo 6:14-15; Lucas 6:36-38; 16:19-31.

- Así que la traducción de la quinta bienaventuranza podría ser: la bienaventuranza de la persona que se pone hasta tal punto en el lugar de los demás que puede ver con sus ojos, pensar con su mente y sentir con su corazón; porque el que es así con los demás, descubrirá que los demás HARAN lo mismo con él y sabrá que eso es lo que Dios ha hecho en Jesucristo!
