“Entrando Jesús en Capernaum, vino a él un centurión, rogándole, 6y diciendo: Señor, mi criado está postrado en casa, paralítico, gravemente atormentado. 7Y Jesús le dijo: Yo iré y le sanaré. 8Respondió el centurión y dijo: Señor, no soy digno de que entres bajo mi techo; solamente di la palabra, y mi criado sanará. 9Porque también yo soy hombre bajo autoridad, y tengo bajo mis órdenes soldados; y digo a éste: Ve, y va; y al otro: Ven, y viene; y a mi siervo: Haz esto, y lo hace. 10Al oírlo Jesús, se maravilló, y dijo a los que le seguían: De cierto os digo, que ni aun en Israel he hallado tanta fe. 11Y os digo que vendrán muchos del oriente y del occidente, y se sentarán con Abraham e Isaac y Jacob en el reino de los cielos; 12mas los hijos del reino serán echados a las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes. 13Entonces Jesús dijo al centurión: Ve, y como creíste, te sea hecho. Y su criado fue sanado en aquella misma hora.” Mateo 8:5-13.
Cuando leemos el paralelo en Lucas nos damos cuenta de que el Centurión mando a Jesús unos ancianos de los Judíos. Algunos ven una aparente contradicción entre Mateo y Lucas. Pero lo que tenemos que recordar es que muchas veces lo que se hace por medio de otros lo hace por si mismo. Dos la Biblia dice que Jesús bautizaba mas gente que Jun el bautista aunque Jesús no bautizaba sino sus discípulos, leamos: “Cuando, pues, el Señor entendió que los fariseos habían oído decir: Jesús hace y bautiza más discípulos que Juan 2(aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),” Juan 4:1-2.
Este hombre demostró ser una buena persona porque amaba a los Judíos y ama a su siervo porque anda buscando su sanidad. Pero también tiene algo muy importante y es que Cree en Jesús.

Aquí tenemos el corazón de una buena actitud. ¿Cómo vemos a Jesús? Igual a nosotros, inferior a nosotros o superior a nosotros. Por eso cuando oramos siempre debemos de usar de humildad en nuestras peticiones.
Este Centurión tiene una gran fe en Jesús que esta seguro que el Señor no tiene que estar cerca del enfermo. Con solo que Jesús de la orden el siervo sanara. Nuestro maestro se maravilla al ver la gran fe de este hombre. Jesús podía sanar de largo de cerca, lo podía hacer tocando al enfermo o dando la orden.
Otra cosa importante es que la fe que ve Jesús es la del Centurión no la del enfermo. Esto es importante porque los sanadores modernos si fallan dicen que es porque el enfermo no tiene fe.
Si la gente pudiera ver la autoridad que tiene Jesús y saber que la autoridad es hacer lo que EL dice.
Jesús dice que muchos que estaban lejos (Gentiles) serán parte del reino porque ellos están demostrando: Humildad, reconocen la autoridad de Jesús, tiene fe y sobre todo ven a Jesús como un hombre que tiene poder pasa sanar.
El problema con los judíos es que no tenían estas cualidades y por eso menospreciaron al Señor.
Que hermoso el momento cuando el Señor le dice al centurión: “Ve, y como creíste, te sea hecho. Y su criado fue sanado en aquella misma hora.”
